Raveena Tandon speaks on Govinda’s punctuality issues on set; says, “Can’t blame him”; recalls taking her “beauty sleep” in the meantime

From their iconic performances in films like Dulhe Raja and Aunty No.1 to their sizzling romantic sequences in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the dynamic on-screen duo Raveena Tandon and Govinda became synonymous with pure entertainment and laughter. Recently, Raveena shared her experience of working with Govinda while sharing her thoughts on the latter being late on the sets “frequently.”

In an interview with ETimes, Tandon asserted, “I have been known to be a producer’s actor, and a director’s actor. I feel a director is the boss, and I feel if a producer has taken my dates, it is my job to be there on time. I would reach the set at 9, knowing that he (Govinda) would come at 2.30-3. I would get ready, do my make up, get into my costume, and used to go to sleep, read a book or catch up on my lost sleep because in those days we used to do three-four shifts in one go.”

The 48-year-old actress went on to explain that Govinda's punctuality was not a concern and didn't cause any delays in the schedule. According to the actress, he was extremely efficient in his work, capable of finishing a scene that would typically take a day to film in just an hour. Raveena mentioned that the producers were well aware of his working style and had no objections to it, considering his films consistently delivered box office success.

The actress further added, “So one really can’t blame him or them. They were all feeding off each other to a certain extent. So, I would never blame him. I would take my beauty sleep during that time and then they’d wake me up half an hour before he reached the set. I would get up, do my touch up and be completely fresh. I enjoyed that.”
