EXCLUSIVE: “Even in 2020, I am struggling day and night”- Rajpal Yadav

“Right from 1984, what we call struggle, I have two words for it- beginner and learner. And even in 2020, I am struggling day and night. This is because people think that Rajpal is getting some really good work. I am a slave of Charlie Chaplin's creativity. Just like a cricketer even when he does not have a bat in his hand, will do the action of swinging a bat, I am also swinging the imaginary bat of creativity from the past 36 years from 1984 to 2020 wondering what my goal is.”

“One thinks that I am doing a really good job and I am thinking that I am giving more exams on that platform so that I keep practicing. But I am constantly moving towards my mission to keep working. My struggle is not over, but I do keep getting work. Right from my childhood, work has been my friend. Even on Sundays, I get work at home to keep myself occupied.” he added.

Yadav also revealed that he adopted the village he hails from in 2005. He said that the village that did not have proper roads, electricity and water supply once has proper roads that does not fill up with a few minutes of rain today. "Acting is my passion and I will work till my last breath and keep fighting for good work. Along with it also comes a social responsibility, that if my house is getting better so should the other houses in my village. Today, when I go to my village I tell them not to put a garland on me but instead provide cement roads for the village,” he said.

Talking further about what he looks to achieve, Rajpal Yadav said, “Between 2020 and 2030, if I am unable to dedicate a film to Charlie Chaplin, the creative dictator then what work will I have done. I would have done nothing at all,” he concludes.

On the work front, Rajpal Yadav will next be seen in the film Coolie No.1. Directed by David Dhawan, the film also stars Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan and Paresh Rawal. The film will be released on December 24, 2020.
